Weird Wannabe Semi-Pro

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 2, 2008, 2:12 AM
More then half a year I’m into photography now and I’m feeling quite like a semi-pro already. :XD: Mind you, I’m awesomely scatterbrained and its really an achievement that something keeps me occupied for more then half a year. Also because I like things were I get good results right from the start without loads of practice. I know, skill comes with practice. But I need some results I really like to keep me going then I’m even willing to practice. It’s like a videogame.... I only like them when I can play them without even looking at the manual.

Me is all weird and talkative..... ^^;

The actual point of this Journal is that I want to share some of my semi-pro photographer knowledge. (I don’t want to say that I’m semi-pro already... I’m just feeling like one....)

Ever since *signmeupscotty wrote that my Pasqueflower Seeds have a wonderful bokeh I’m intrigued with it.

Bokeh is derived from the Japanese bokeaji and means blur. So bokeh refers most of the time to the blurry background. It works best with portraits, flowers and still-life cause when the background is all blurry nothing distracts from the leading motive. At the moment I really like to aim for it when I’m photographing single flowers who I want to really stand out in the photo. Also it doesn’t always work cause I can’t cut half the garden down to get the desired bokeh. My Grandma would hurt me.... baaaad... ^^;
Bokeh is mainly the lack of depth of field but it can also be achieved with some postprocessing. Also the good (and/or lazy) photographer doesn’t use Photoshop for this. I’m one of the lazy photographers cause I don’t do things in postprocessing I can already achieve while taking the photo. My lazy-self says no-no to hours of blurrying backgrounds. :XD:

Ok enough... I hope I didn’t bore you to much. XD Also if I wondrously really made you curious. Wikipedia knows it better then me.
Oh, and by no means I want to claim that this is all correct. As I said before I’m not even semi-pro! Beside bokeh is quite subjective.^^

I’ve focused on the bokeh while I was choosing my new features to show you some examples. Also I’ve a bit a lack of human photos cause I’m not so fond of human-photography itself. :shrug:
