Ranunculus is a large genus of about 400 species of plants in the Ranunculaceae. It includes the buttercups, spearworts, water crowfoots and the lesser celandine (but not the greater celandine of the poppy family Papaveraceae).

Ehhh, I get the title and everything but I think this shot could have been better. The focus seems rather random - I'm not even really sure where it is; a couple petals here, a couple there, and the base? Personally I would have liked to see it focused on the center and the back petals or the center and the front petals.

But on the subject of buttercups, do they do the thing in Germany as kids where you hold a buttercup under your chin to see if you like butter? :giggle:

It was the weird focus that attracted me. It kinda is diagonal. Dunno how I did this. ^^;

To be honest... I've never heard of this. What do you do? Just hold it there and then? How do you know if you like butter? :giggle:

I can't believe you've never heard of this, we all did it as kids :lol: Anyways, the idea is that you hold the buttercup close to your chin and if you see a yellow glow on your chin, you like butter :D If you don't, you're some sort of weird butter hating psycho :XD:

I was walking with my 4 year old cousin and showed her how it worked... big mistake. Every 30 seconds she would turn to me with the buttercup under her chin and ask, "Do I like butter?" Then she'd see if I did, then run and check her brothers. Imagine about half an hour of "Yes, yes, you like butter!" :giggle:

:rofl: Oh, that's really great! I'll make a note to not tell my nephews before they're more matured.
